Client: John Stein (fictional Author) | Project: Book Signing Poster | Audience: Portlanders, Powell’s Books Customers | Notes: This piece was meant to have a vintage collage look with a Modern twist. The book Machine is a modern take on the Industrial Revolution.

Client: PICA (Portland Institute of Contemporary Art) | Project: Allure Postcard |  Audience: Portlanders, Contemporary Art Buffs | Notes: The Allure Event is a gallery showing featuring artwork and photography focusing on feminine ideals in American culture over the past century. Shown above are three different postcard options.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship PSU | Project: Flyers and Posters promoting events | Audience: Portland State Students | Notes: This was the theme for IVCF’s collateral for the school year of 2008-2009. The look was supposed to engage with the younger audience by using bright colors and imagery that referenced both the urban and natural influence of the campus.

Client: Pacific Cornetta Inc | Project: Postcard for Outdoor Retailer Tradeshow 2009 | Audience: Potential Buyers | Notes: Our Outdoor Retailer Postcards have had a tradition of being a bit quirky and funny while still informing the potential buyer of our newest product. The theme here was obviously a comic strip. I produced all illustrations, script and layout.

Client: Artistique Photographie | Project: Brand Redesign and Collateral | Audience: Customers interested in high-end photography, emphasis on wedding photography | Notes: Artistique Photographie was interested in a brand that appealed to high-end customers, while giving off the feeling of a French boutique. Letterhead, sample card, business card (front and back) and logos shown above.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship PSU, co-sponsored by World Vision  | Project: Acting On AIDS event collateral | Audience: Portland State Students | Notes: Acting On AIDS was a two event campaign to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic. Collateral consisted of two posters (one for each event), a postcard, event logos, buttons, and supporting flyers and programs.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship NW Region | Project: Conference theme, brochure | Audience: Students at Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho campuses | Notes: Love Actually was a NW Region conference for IVCF discussing Sexuality, Dating and Singleness. Brochure was a one-color job, I chose a gender-neutral green to help engage male students to attend. Theme was based on symbols to convey a simplicity of the subject matter, something that would hopefully happen at the conference itself.

Client: Oregon Humane Society | Project: Monthly Newsletter | Audience: Donors, Past and Future Adopters | Notes: This 11×17 spread folds in half to create a magazine like feel, then folds into quarters for easy mailing. Newsletter mostly done in one-color with full color only on animals to bring focus to them. Open, airy feeling given to newsletter to encourage positive feelings toward OHS.

Client: Design Culture Now | Project: Lecture Series Collateral | Audience: Designers, Art Directors, Local Design Firms, Students | Notes: This poster and brochure announces a lecture series from four well known designers. The goal was to focus on a typographic look to appeal to those interested in design.

Client: Pacific Cornetta | Project: Outdoor Retailer Tradeshow Postcard 2010 | Audience: Potential Buyers | Notes: This postcard was sent to promote the release of our new Sof-t Collection. The idea was to tease the audience by peaking their interest in the product without giving them the full picture of what the product was. The goal was for them to come visit the booth in order to experience the product line in full.

Client: Personal | Project: Pearl District Photography CD containing sample photography | Audience: Clients interested in work | Notes: These are all photographs that I have taken in the Pearl District. The CD was a giveaway to clients that may be interested in my photography work. The CD contains a minibook inside, spreads featured on the right.

Client: Oregon Zoo | Project: Advertising Campaign | Audience: Parents, Children, Educators | Notes: The “Get Real” campaign features a billboard design, newspaper ad, button, and zine ad.

Client: InterVarsity NW Oregon | Project: Conference Identity/Postcard | Audience: Students from U of O, OSU, PSU, Lewis and Clark, George Fox, Reed, and PCC | Notes: This conference was about redefining the stereotypical Jesus. I wanted the image to feel illusive. Like something you almost couldn’t quite grasp or see fully, like the true image of who Jesus was.

Client: Pacific Cornetta Sales Reps| Project: Pages from Catalog Type Style Presentation Leave Behind | Audience: Housewares Buyers | Notes: These are a couple pages of layout from a leave behind presentation that sales representatives use during their meetings with housewares buyers. Both layout and photography were done by me.

Client: Bordertown| Project: Album Cover | Audience: Ages 20-50 | Notes: Blues / Southern Rock / Alternative band, wanted aged, rusty and raw look to their album cover.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship NW Region | Project: Conference theme/postcard flyer | Audience: Students at Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho campuses (Over 500 attendees) | Notes: “Relationship: It’s Complicated” was a NW Regional conference for IVCF discussing the complexity of maintaining real relationships in the world of social media. My design concept clearly emulates that of Facebook, to communicate the nature of the conference. This postcard flyer was the first piece of collateral  that students would interact with from the conference and conference theme.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship NW Region | Project: Conference Staff Shirts | Audience: Students and Staff from Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho campuses (Over 500 attendees) | Notes: “Relationship: It’s Complicated” was a NW Regional conference for IVCF discussing the complexity of maintaining real relationships in the world of social media. This shirt design was based off the conference Facebook looking theme. Pictographs showing the different roles staff members play on the front combined with the tagline from the conference name all helped to bring humor as well as identification to the staff members.

Client: Westport Community Church | Project: Project Poster | Audience: Westport Church Members | Notes: The Extend Project was a project organized by Westport Community Church in Beaverton to reach out to families in need over the holiday season. A select number of families were chosen and partnered with Westport in receiving food and holiday gifts, as well as prolonged program help in an effort to get the families out of poverty. The idea was about extending our love to one another over the winter season. Remembering that we were all first loved by God.

Client: NESL | Project: Solar Panel Data Sheet | Audience: Installers and Buyers| Notes: Although this may not seem as creative or fun, being able to design an easy to read data sheet was a challenging and worth while project. Design is applicable to everyone, even engineers and installers. I designed two layouts of data sheets upon request for NESL, both vertical and horizontal. I chose a green color pallet for all of their Polycrystalline  panels and Orange for all their Monocrystalline panels to help keep things clear and organized. It is also worth noting that I created all the icons from scratch as well as the technical drawings which were done in Illustrator.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship | Project: PowerPoint Slide for Sermon Series | Audience: College Students attending large group gathering| Notes: This design slide was to serve as a background and inspirational image as the speaker discussed Psalm Chapter 1. The point of the graphic was to show a healthy tree with a strong root system as one might have being fed by the streams of water. That imagery would be used by the speaker.

Client: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship | Project: T-Shirt Graphic | Audience: College Students/Staff Members/Alumni| Notes: This was a T-Shirt design used as a part of a fundraiser for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The fundraiser was a race, and all participating members wore matching shirts to unify the team. They wanted something that said who they were, where they were from, and a generic enough design that they could use them for other events in the future non-specific to the race.
